Trademark Guidelines

  • The first use of each registered Rocket® trademark mentioned in communications must be identified by a registration symbol ®.

  • Always include a footnote or attribution. The attribution must be located either on the page/screen where the Rocket trademark is used, or in the legal section of the communication or site in which it is referenced.

Example of the attribution/footnote: Rocket is a trademark of Rocket Software, Inc. and its affiliates.

  • All Rocket product names should be preceded by the word “Rocket” and followed by the trademark symbol ®

    Examples: Rocket® API, Rocket® DevOps

Please note that rules for marking product names may differ by country. You may want to seek guidance from a trademark professional abroad.

  • Always use the product full name.

    Example: Rocket® Pro/JCL, not just Pro/JCL.

  • Always use the trademark as an adjective qualifying a noun (such as a product or service). The product name should also be used in a singular form unless a trademark itself is in plural or possessive form.

Example: Rocket® Modern Experience is a mainframe modernization solution.

  • If you are a partner, please add the following attribution to your website: [ROCKET PRODUCT NAME] resold by [[SOLUTION PROVIDER / DISTRIBUTOR / DISTRIBUTION SELLER] NAME], an authorized [solution provider / distributor / distribution seller] of Rocket Software, Inc. or its affiliates. Rocket and the Rocket logo [AND ANY OTHER ROCKET TRADEMARK USED] are trademarks of Rocket Software, Inc. or its affiliates.

  • Do not change the form or representation of the product name, including capitalization or punctuation.
    Example: Rocket® CorVu® software, not ROCKET® corvu®.
  • Do not alter Rocket’s trademarks.

  • Do not create any new logo for Rocket or Rocket product names.

  • Do not incorporate any Rocket product names into your company's product names.

  • Do not incorporate any Rocket product names into the root domain of any website owned by your company.

  • Do not misspell or use lower case letters when using the name “Rocket” in text.

  • Do not use Rocket taglines.

  • Do not connect your company name with Rocket product names.

  • Do not misspell or incorrectly capitalize Rocket trademarks.

Fair Use guidelines for use and reference of Rocket trademarks

The use of Rocket’s trademarks by a third party without express permission or license, is limited to text-only references such as product and service names and excludes the use of Rocket logos.

When referencing Rocket trademarks, you must:

Following are two common types of fair use:

  • be truthful.
  • not disparage Rocket.
  • not mislead the public.
  • be clear and accurate as to the nature of the relationship between Rocket and your company, its products, and its services.

The most common uses are:

  • When you are specifically referring to Rocket products.

Example: “…Rocket®️ Modern Experience, a central management platform and modernization tool that empowers your engineering and IT teams to modernize the UI and UX of your core applications through deployment of prebuilt or dynamically customized UI..”

  • When you are indicating that a Rocket product is compatible with another product.

Example: “Product X is built on the Rocket® Uniface® platform.”

Please note that the emphasis should be on your product name and any accompanying packaging produced by your company. Labeling should place emphasis on your product name so that it is perceived as an application, developed with, compatible with, or running with a Rocket product.

Use of Rocket logos

Rocket carefully limits the use of its logos by third parties. No other company may use Rocket logos unless it has the express written permission of Rocket or is licensed by Rocket to do so.

Use of "Rocket" as a company name

"Rocket" is both a trademark of Rocket Software, Inc. as well as a company name. When "Rocket" is used to identify the company Rocket Software, Inc., it is called a trade name. Trade name usage typically applies when referring to a company as opposed to a particular product. It is permissible to use Rocket as a possessive if you are referring to Rocket the company. In that case, the name does not identify goods or services (which are legally the domain of trademarks) and as such should not include a registration mark.
