Waltham, MA – October 19, 2012 – Rocket Software, Inc. announced today that it has acquired substantially all of the assets of OpenTech Systems, Inc., a leading provider of software for both physical and virtual tape data migration for IBM System z.  OpenTech solutions have been trusted globally by storage vendors, service providers, and large enterprises for over a decade. The OpenTech team, based near Dallas, has joined our global organization of more than 1,000 employees and is now part of our Rocket Storage, Networks, and Compliance business unit.

Andy Youniss, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rocket Software, said, "OpenTech is a company that we have known and respected for many years.  This is a great acquisition for Rocket and we are excited to now be able to directly address our customers' needs to migrate and consolidate their critical data.  This is also a natural fit with our Storage, Networks, and Compliance business unit, which offers complementary solutions including backup and recovery management software. We welcome our new customers and partners and look forward to supporting them and helping them achieve ongoing success with OpenTech."

OpenTech offers tape data migration software that has been trusted globally by storage vendors and outsource/service providers for over a decade. These world-class products are fast, efficient, and support critical data that is moving between any combination of both physical and virtual tape on IBM System z.  In addition, its tape-based backup and recovery software helps identify, backup, and recover disk-based data.
